Jon is already in the holiday spirit. He will be releasing a Christmas song he wrote himself. No set date yet but it will be released shortly when it is announced.
From his Facebook/Twitter:
"Just picked the cover for the Christmas song! It's coming soon, my friends! (meaning the song...and Christmas too)"
More to come...

Jon is the Koffeehouse featured artist of the week. Here's an exerpt of the Q&A session with Christopher Eric:
< We know you are working on recording your new album. What can your fans expect from the new album? And how long does Perez have to wait for some new material?
JM: The new record is coming along really well. I've never taken so much time to do it right before and I've never worked so hard on anything before. So I hope Perez and all my other fans love this record and love what they hear because the music I'm making now is definitely me. I'm not trying for anything or trying to be anyone else but myself.>>
Head over to http://www.ultimatejonmclaughlin.blogspot.com to read the rest.
He will be performing on their 4th annual "Evening of Independence" benefitting MusiCares on Saturday, August 7th.
Venue: Ford Amphitheatre
Place: Hollywood, CA

I don't have details about the Military Park show that took place yesterday afternoon, but I did find a photo set on Flickr, you can view the pics in this link :
One of the pictures was of the setlist and on it showed some brand new songs he performed (bolded below):
Beating My Heart
Always On My Mind
You Are the One I Love
You Are What I'm Here For
Come Together (cover)
Why I'm Talking to You
Maybe It's Over, But I Don't Feel It
I found the other 'untitled song' he performed in NYC is actually "Maybe It's Over, But I Don't Feel It", which is a line he sings during the chorus.
This is all for now

New album update ladies and gents,
In this new interview, Jon talks about moving back to Indiana (from a short stay in Cali.), the writing process for the upcoming album, his early days as a performer, and a sneak-preview of a recent performance at the Bluebird.
Some quotes from the interview:
"I feel like I haven't done a record yet that gives the best portrayal ofthe sound that I want," he says."Goinginto this record...I didn't want to do it the way we did the other ones. "
The creative process McLaughlin used on both of his studio albums was heavily collaborative and often rushed, with the second record largely being crafted while he toured insupport of the first. This time around, he wanted things to feel different right from the start.
"This record's definitely better than anything I've done so far. I feel the most connected to it," he says. He says he's trying to recapture the soundof his first efforts as a singer-songwriter. "If you had gone to a show back in the day, this would be more like that."
At the end of the interview, it's mentioned that Jon will be, or is, working with producer Dennis Herring (Elvis Costello, Modest Mouse, Ben Folds). The album is yet to be titled and will possibly see an early Fall 2010 release.
If you're in the Indianapolis area, there will be a show in Military Park on June 5th. Jon will most likely play a bunch of new songs for the audience. His "Songs I Wrote..." EP will be available in the merchandise section as well. This will be one show that shouldn't be missed!

I've uploaded 2 new videos and added them to Multimedia-Video. The first is an alternate recording of the So Close performance at the Academy awards . It's a much clearer version than the first version I added to the page. The title and video were tag with "(version 2)" so that it can be easily found and downloaded. Audio from this clip is up in the audio section ( tagged with second source).
The second video is an interview with Seth Hancock conducted back in 2008. The two talked about OK Now, Jon being discovered by Island, his success and more.
In addition, most of the links to download the videos have been re-uploaded on Mediafire since most of them were deleted from Divshare after their makeover.

You can now download the mp3 audio of "The Words", Unreleased song #2 (Launchpad) and unreleased song #3 (IN State Fair) in Multimedia - Audio under the new content box 'Unreleased Tracks'. Click on the divshare logo on the right of the stream so that it takes you to the download page.
Many thanks to the people who recorded these performances, and for allowing me to post them on this site.

I've discovered 3 more unreleased songs last night. It's amazing how these songs pop up out of nowhere. Two of them didn't have titles and are fairly recent, and the other has a title and was recorded over 2 years ago.
The Words (followed by Industry) - this is the oldest unreleased track I found. It would have probably ended up on OK Now. Performed at the UGA on April 2008.
Untitled - performed at the Indiana State Fair, last August. This would be a great album opener for the upcoming record.
Untitled - performed at the Launchpad in Albuqueque, NM (2009?)
I will be putting up the audio very soon, enjoy these videos in the meantime.
